Which Olympic medalists do you admire the most and why?

I.M. Mark Spitz

In addition to becoming an exceptional Olympian and gold medalist, American competitive swimmer Mark Spitz would go on to set world records in seven of his disciplines before retiring. In total, he won nine gold medals at the Olympics. With his 7 gold medals from the 1972 Summer Olympics, he set a record that would stand until Michael Phelps beat it in 2008. Mark Spitz might have possibly accomplished more if he hadn’t retired after the 1972 Olympics in Munich. In that time period, he was only 22 years old. He dabbled in the entertainment industry, was a commentator, and built a successful real estate and commercial empire. With his Olympic experiences as a springboard, he continues to teach across the world.

Ms Nancy Kerrigan

Former figure skating star Nancy Kerrigan won bronze in 1992 and silver in 1994 at the Winter Olympics. In 1991, she also finished in third place at the World Championships. It’s possible, though, that Nancy Kerrigan will forever be linked to her American competitor Tonya Harding, whose ex-husband plotted an attack on Nancy. A man whacked her on the knee with a baton, and the incident received widespread media attention because of the severity of her injury. Their chances of winning the figure skating competition were damaged on purpose. Although she was injured, Kerrigan would make a full recovery in time to compete and win a medal in 1994. She competed on a Season of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2017. She has also been a celebrity guest on several television programmes.
