McKayla Maroney

Retired gymnast McKayla Maroney made history by successfully defending her world vault championship in 2011. (2013). In addition to being one of the Fierce Five, she competed in the 2012 Olympics, where she earned silver in the solo vault category. Additionally, she won the gold medal in the team competition. A picture of her making a “not impressed” face as she waited to get her silver medal at the Olympics has become almost as famous as her artistic gymnastics record. Maroney took the online mockery in stride, even when the photo of her was turned into a meme or manipulated for humorous effect. Due to a long-term injury, she had to leave the workforce and is now working in the entertainment industry.
