Which Olympic medalists do you admire the most and why?

Greg Louganis

Just one Olympic diver, Greg Louganis, has ever won every diving event at two consecutive Olympics. After dominating competition on the springboard and platform in the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics, he was dubbed the “best American diver” and “probably the greatest diver ever” by sports commentators and fans alike. Even now, people talk about the day he hit his head in the pool at the Seoul Olympics. Greg Louganis is now a mentor for the United States diving squad and an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community.

Alicia Sacramone

Alicia Sacramone competed in gymnastics for more than ten years. Her training phase began when she was eight years old, and she competed at the highest levels within seven years. She is one of the most decorated gymnasts of all time, having won 12 medals between 2004 and 2008 in the U.S. National Championships and four golds, four silvers, and one bronze at the World Championships. She went on to compete in the Visa national championships after winning silver at the 2008 Olympics. After failing to qualify for the Olympic team in 2012, she decided to retire with “no regrets.”
