Nordegren had to show the public that she was just as shocked as everyone else by her husband’s betrayal. “I’m so ashamed that I never had a single suspicion,” she said. “Betrayal isn’t a strong enough word.” She had once “felt safe” with Woods, which is heartbreaking.

Before his affair broke up their marriage, Nordegren thought her life was stable. She met Woods when she was 21. Before that, she had worked as a nanny in the United States for a year. She was born in Vaxholm, Sweden. When she was younger, she wanted to be a writer and learn about psychology. But those dreams were put on hold early on.
