Accommodation
Festival-goers can pick from a wide variety of places to stay, each with their own amenities and price tags. Most people camp out or sleep in their vehicles. Others have settled into smaller communities or theme camps. Camps emerged as one way for groups of burners to provide safe haven and communal space for shared activities. Luxury “plug and play” camps started appearing at Burning Man over time.
Crowds
It can get quite packed, as you might expect. Though most people in Black Rock City would rather be in the thick of things, there are many who long for a little peace and quiet and so make their homes in the city’s “suburbs,” the far-flung locations where population density is lower. On average, the festival draws an attendance of 80,000 people.
