These Breathtaking Images Really Do Justice to The Burning Man Festival

Fire-breathing Octopus Made From Repurposed Car Parts

One of the most interesting cars to ever drive around the Playa. This device is unique in that it is topped with enormous flame-tipped tentacles. It’s a flamethrower with a height of 25 feet! As early as 2011, it made its way to the Burning Man festival. The mechanical apparatus built with human effort is affectionately known as El Pulpo Mecanico, or the Giant Flaming Octopus. The 1973 Ford 250 pickup truck served as inspiration for an innovative mashup of art and technology. Since the monster sculpture in Humboldt County requires 200 litres of propane per night to operate, the artists there are currently accepting donations in order to revive her. Pictured here beneath a starry 2012 sky, she is there.

Ascending the Pink Tower

Where else but in this galaxy would you find a giant, neon-pink rocket ship designed specifically for grownups? Nowhere. Take note of its foundation! Wheels. This rocket building can be moved around easily. The Burning Man festival is an extraordinary and one-of-a-kind event.
