Openness to Diversity on a Grand Scale
“Radical Inclusion” is the primary guiding concept. Therefore, in essence, anyone can participate in Burning Man. The official definition is “Anyone may be a part of Burning Man,” which may be found on the Burning Man website. All visitors are treated with dignity and respect. There are no entry requirements in our group. At Burning Man, everyone is treated equally. The threshold arch is where all forms of discrimination must be left at the door.
Gifting
Giving back to the community is at the heart of the Burning Man experience. Except for the cost of milk and ice, no monetary exchange takes place. Instead of expecting payment, people are encouraged to give gifts. A gift can be given without any expectation of return, although it is customary to give something of value in return for a favour performed or a service completed.
