A Watched Pot
We all know the classic phrase “a watched pot never boils,” but it most surely won’t boil if you place it on the wrong burner. But in all seriousness, this occurs to everyone at some point, and it usually occurs when one is starving and realises that one has been cooking nothing but air for the past 10 minutes.
