Some of Hollywood’s Most-Paused Scenes

THREE TOY STORY (2010)

They try as they might, the Toy Story gang just can’t stay out of scrapes. Donated to a daycare in the third film. Many viewers, both young and old, have been known to abruptly exit this animated masterpiece at a specific scene. An antagonist from an earlier film appears in this scene, playing the role of a sanitation worker. You’ll need a keen eye to spot it, but once you do, pausing is a lifesaver.

The Animated Tale of Beauty and the Beast (1991)

We can’t help but applaud movies like The Matrix and Inception for the clever way they use foreshadowing. The Disney classic “Beauty and the Beast” fits into this category. Because of this strategy, it is one of the film’s most often halted scenes. Gaston tries to physically harm The Beast in the show’s last act. Little skulls are pressed into his eyes as he draws near, and then he is tossed over the edge. We should pause to appreciate such nuanced craft.
