You’re not doing well
When dreadful parents talk about their horrible childhood then claim that they grew up great. It’s weird. “My father yelled at me every night, just as I do with you, and I grew up to be freaking fine!” It’s fine!” Dad, I’m sorry you’re not feeling well today. Not in the least. Just because someone has reached adulthood and raised children does not guarantee they are in good health; it simply means they are not dead.
This Is Not Like the Others, Mom
Even parents, like everyone else, have their own worries and fears. However, there is no justification for inflicting pain and suffering on others, particularly your children. Trauma has a tremendous impact on how we treat others and make decisions, but we must also consider how our own trauma impacts others. A minor blip in a child’s vaccine schedule is unlikely to result in a disaster, and this woman’s mother must recognise that each scenario is unique.
