Sad Recollections
Living with Jasper wasn’t always a breeze. Berniece had the easiest possible upbringing thanks to the woman he married when she was young. The sad truth is that her stepmother was a cold woman who kept Jasper too busy to properly care for his two children. Jackie, Berniece’s younger brother, was there to help her through the tough times. That is, until his unexpected death when he was just fourteen years old. As a result, she was now forced to spend her time alone with her cold father and hateful stepmother.
A Single Recollection
Berniece has always been curious about her biological mother and where she might be. An empty photo frame on her dresser was the only clue she had. She had only seen pictures of Gladys and had no idea who she actually was. She eventually convinced herself that her mother had died, which would explain why she had never contacted her. So it comes as no surprise that her reaction upon reading the truth-containing letter was one of shock and astonishment. in particular the fact that she had a long-lost sister living on the other side of the country.
