The Decision to Leave High School Early
As the saying goes, “art imitates life,” and John Travolta’s story is a perfect example of this. His ambition for a career in acting was so strong that he left high school at age 16 to pursue it full-time. In some ways, Travolta’s casting as Danny Zuko, a pleasant and popular high school boy who isn’t focused on his studies, was a reflection of his own high school experience. Travolta played football and basketball with his pals, but they never truly grasped his commitment to acting or why he spent so much time at the studios after hours. Maybe they get it now that he’s one of Hollywood’s hottest properties.
