Ending His Long Silence, John Travolta

This One Almost Got Away

Along with a complete engine failure, the plane’s communications went dead. Because they were worried about where Travolta’s plane was, air traffic controllers put a halt to their work until they had more information. To be helpful, it was decided to have a second plane lead John and his co-pilot down to the ground. They redirected a fully booked Boeing 727 to accomplish this. Travolta, whose radios were also out, had no idea this was the plan and narrowly missed a midair collision as a result. In a stroke of good luck, both planes made a safe landing, and nobody was wounded in the process.
