Before Kelly’s Love
It was an unusual pairing, but Diana Hyland and John Travolta had genuine chemistry. They had a significant age gap of eighteen years but proved that love really can win out in the end. They portrayed mother and son on the set of “The boy in the plastic bubble,” therefore they ended up working together. Tragically, Hyland contracted breast cancer and passed away at age 41, in Travolta’s arms. After the success of The Boy in the Plastic Bubble, Hyland was given an Emmy Award, which John Travolta graciously received on her behalf.
