Prominent Performer
Despite Pulp Fiction’s very modest budget, it propelled John Travolta into the realm of Hollywood’s A-list films and leading performers. In the nineties, he was cast in a number of high-profile films, including the thriller Faceoff, opposite Nicolas Cage’s character, an FBI agent. In Get Shorty, he played a loan shark, and in Civil Action, he played an attorney. At the end of the ’90s, John Travolta played a presidential contender with numerous similarities to Bill Clinton in the film Primary Colors. This was a demanding and complex part, and Travolta would have to undergo some significant physical transformations to bring the character to life.
