The Renaissance of John.
When John Travolta played a teenage cab driver alongside Kirstie Alley in Look Who’s Talking, the tables started to turn again for him. When it was finally presented to the public in 1989, the film earned an astounding $297 million worldwide. This was Travolta’s biggest box office success since Grease, so the producers realised they were onto something. They made several sequels, ushering in a golden age. His career, which some have dubbed a “John-aissance,” perhaps reached its pinnacle in 1994, when he was offered a role in Pulp Fiction, a film by Quentin Tarantino. Travolta’s performance as Vincent Vega, opposite Samuel L. Jackson, garnered him an Academy Award nomination for best actor. Travolta seemed to be reborn, experiencing a period of unparalleled prosperity. Obviously, this led to even greater levels of success financially.
