In an open letter to her fans, the singer stated that accepting her natural beauty began with a single photograph. Keys and the photographer agreed that the photography for her album “Here” should be done without makeup, leaving the singer looking and feeling as natural as the music on the album. She described the experience as “the strongest, most empowered, most liberated, and most honestly beautiful” she had ever felt in her life. She resolved to make a change from that point forward.
