On the set of Titanic, Kate Winslet came dangerously close to drowning.
Kate Winslet, ironically enough, nearly drowned during Titanic filming. Kate Winslet’s Rose is among the many passengers who panic and jump overboard as the ship goes down to the ocean floor in the film’s second half. Winslet’s coat became entangled in the elevator gate during the scene in which Jack and Rose enter the elevator as it begins to fill with water. The crew managed to free her just in time, as the water level was about to rise. Winslet nearly drowned on set, but her character never does.
