Amazing pictures from the past that show how life used to be

In the 1950s, a drive-in movie theatre

Drive-in theatres aren’t as common as they used to be, but they were an important part of 1950s American culture. People could watch a movie from the privacy and comfort of their own cars at a drive-in. In 1915, Las Cruces, New Mexico, had the first drive-in movie theatre. Setting up a drive-in isn’t too hard. All you need is a big parking lot, a projector, a white wall, and big speakers. However, some drive-ins also use small speakers next to each car.

Vintage “Selfies”

Before we uploaded our filtered faces to Instagram and had high-tech cameras in our phones, cameras were big, heavy, and had slow shutters. The first selfie was taken by Robert Cornelius in 1839. At the time, it was called a self-portrait.
