A single-speed bike from the 1930s

A monocycle is a motorised version of the monowheel, which was a single-track vehicle made in the late 1800s. On a unicycle, the rider sits on top of the wheel. On a unicycle, the rider sits either inside the wheel or right next to it. Monowheels were once thought to be a good way to get around, but their lack of stability, poor visibility, and the risk of “gerbiling” were all problems that couldn’t be fixed. These days, most people build and ride monowheels and monocycles for fun.

Italy’s Fiat factory is in Turin

When it opened in 1923, the Lingotto building in Turin, Italy, was home to a Fiat factory. On an assembly line which went up through the building, the cars were made. The finished cars were then put through their paces on the test track on the roof of the building. The factory closed in 1982, the building was later turned into a modern complex with two hotels, concert halls, a convention centre, offices, and retail space. In 1997, the building became the new home of Fiat’s administrative headquarters.
